Arnold C. Shapiro, 82
PORTLAND AND BOCA RATON, FLA. -- Arnold Shapiro of Portland and Boca Raton, Fla. and formerly of Biddeford, entered into rest on November 22,2013.
He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Dephoure) Shapiro of Portland and Boca Raton, Fla. formerly of Biddeford. He was the son of the late Sarah (Feinstein) Shapiro and the late Esidore H. Shapiro of Old Orchard Beach. He was the devoted father of Elaine Shapiro and her husband, James Cornblatt of Peabody, Mass. and Susan (Shapiro) and her husband, Steven Masse of Biddeford. He was predeceased by his son in law Barry Fox of Swampscott, Mass. He was the loving grandfather of Joshua Masse of Biddeford and Justin Masse of New Haven, Conn. Arnold was a graduate of Thorton Academy, Saco. He attended Portland Junior College. He served as a Corporal in the Military Police in the Korean War, stationed at Fort Lee, Va. Mr. Shapiro was the Treasurer of Union Oil Company of Maine. For thirty years, he was the President of Congregation Etz Chaim in Biddeford. He was a corporator and board member of York County Counseling Services and he was a primary fund-raiser for the YMCA in Biddeford.
Funeral Services will be held at Congregation Etz Chaim, 36 Bacon Street, Biddeford, ME on Sunday, November 24th at 11 a.m. followed by interment at Mt. Sinai Cemetery, Hicks Street, Portland. Memorial observance will be held at his late residence, The Osher Inn, 620 Ocean Avenue, Portland on Sunday following the services from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and on Monday from 6-8 p.m.
