Hutchins, 41
WESTBROOK -- Shawn Lloyd Hutchins, 41, beloved son of Lee B Hutchins Jr. and Kathleen (MacVane) Hutchins, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, from a fall sustained while doing what he loved best, photographing scenes in Dayton, Maine.
Shawn had many passions in life including sailing, hiking and photography but he most deeply cared about his three children and cherished the time he spent with them. His photographs, which he often posted online, were amazing works of art.
Shawn had recently applied to Southern Maine Community College and was preparing to study electrical engineering.
His engaging personality, zest for life and love of family will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Shawn was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Lloyd and Elizabeth MacVane and paternal grandmother Henrietta K. Palmer.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by former wife and friend, Danine Brown and their children Kaitlynn, Zackary and Matthew Hutchins; sister, Deborah Grant and her husband Peter; nieces, Courtney, Kasey and Sarah Collins and her husband John and their children Sage, Anna and Jack; paternal grandfather, Lee Hutchins Sr. and his wife Flo of Florida; grandfather, Elton Howard of Florida. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012 at First Baptist Church, 360 Canco Rd. Portland, ME 04103. Arrangements are by A.T. Hutchins Funeral & Cremation Services, Portland. I will forever be grateful for the times we spent together. You inspired me to start taking pictures again and to express myself through my writing. You told me that you wished you were as good with words as you were with your camera. I wish I could have bottled up all of your words. It amazed me how you could recite every song ever written and almost always knew the artist and what year it came out. You inspired many with the way you put your entire soul into every song you sang, every step you danced, every photograph you took. My deepest sympathy to your family and friends and to your loyal companion, Noah. Thank you for sharing the dance of life with me.

Lee,
Shawn was my only best friend in this world through hard days and crazy days I loved him as he was my blood. And will till I see him again someday.

My heart goes out to your family Shawn. It saddens me that we only had the chance to meet you once though our daughter Anne. She spoke of you so often it felt like we knew you too. She'd tell us of your love for Noah (who reminded her of our dog Blizzard)and photography. Please watch out for her from above as she goes through the pain and grief of losing someone special.

We are all better people for knowing Shawn. Moreover, although we wish we could have spent more time with him, we are happy for the time we had. A loss like this can be devastating and even make you feel as if nothing will be the same again. Shawn will be miss by so many people most of all his parents Lee & Kathy siblings Debbie & Sarah and children Kaitlynn, Zackary and Matthew. I got to know Shawn for a brief time the summer before we became freshman in high school, that is my memory of him. He was funny and kind and made you laugh. My prayers are with his family and friends now during this difficult time and hope they can find some peace. You will be missed Shawn. R.I.P
