Torbey, Dr. Edward M.Dr. Edward M. Torbey, DDS, 79, of Slatington, died Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest. He was the husband of Grace M. (German) Torbey to whom he was married 53 years last June 17. Born in Allentown, March 9, 1936, Edward was the son of Anna K. (Sokol) Torbey of Allentown and the late Michael Torbey. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force during a peacetime era. Dr. Torbey was a graduate of the former Slatington High School, Class of 1954, where he was a member of the "Iron Men" basketball team. He then attended Muhlenberg College and graduated from Temple University School of Dentistry. He owned and operated a general dentistry practice in Slatington since 1963. Dr. Torbey was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Slatington. Survivors: In addition to his loving wife and mother; children, Sherri L. Torbey of Slatington, Michele Torbey Serniak and her husband, Joseph of Andreas, Dr. Gary E. Torbey of Massena, NY; sister, Patricia Greene of Whitehall; grandchildren, Arienne and Gavin. Services: A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm. Monday, March 30, 2015 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville with the Rev. Russell F. Haab officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects from 11:30 am. - 1:00 pm. in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Ebenezer Church Cemetery, New Tripoli.
