Dorothy Glardon Obituary

Dorothy Glardon
August 24, 1926 - May 13, 2017
Dorothy Glardon, a lifelong resident of Merced County, was lifted into the Lord's arms at the age of 90. Dorothy was born in Deer Park, Hamilton County, Ohio. She lived most of her 50 years in Atwater and Merced, California. She was a loving mother and homemaker. She worked during the summers as a Water Safety Instructor for the American Red Cross. At one time she was the Instructor Trainer for Merced County. She enjoyed training children to swim and saved many lives performing CPR and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. One woman she saved in particular had seven children. Dorothy also had a beautiful soprano voice and was heard for many years singing solos in the choir at Castle Air Force Base.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Edna Mae Zimmer, her husband, Robert George Glardon, and her two sons, James and Patrick Glardon. She was the last of her six siblings to pass. Dorothy is survived by her children, Thomas Glardon, Mary Glardon, Geri Glardon, Eileen Kane, Kathleen Glardon, and Debora Bueltel; her nine grandchildren, April Hilk, Ginger Carriveau, Emmeline Tussing, Justin Bueltel, Christopher Bueltel, Sean Bueltel, Josh Glardon, Erin Mae Testa, and Jacob Kane; 16 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
A special thank you to her loving son, Thomas Glardon, for his loving care and companionship. For her final years, Dorothy was showered with love, warmth, and tenderness.
Friends and family are invited to a viewing on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 starting at 2 PM located at La Paloma Funeral Services, 5450 Stephanie Street, Las Vegas, Nevada, (702) 732-7070. Prayer services by Father Tom Montelaro will follow beginning at 3 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to her favorite charity, the American Cancer Society.
