Edward Harris Obituary

Edward Frederick Harris
Nov. 30, 1944 - Jan. 27, 2012
Resident of San Jose
Ed was born on November 30, 1944 in Lynwood, CA and went to be with the Lord on January 27, 2012 in San Jose, CA. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Sandy of San Jose. He was the beloved father of Greg Mayhew of San Jose, Shawna Rocha (Don) of San Jose and Shelli Bondi (Joe) of Campbell. He was the devoted papa of Austin, DJ, Emily, Joey, Brooke and Trent. Ed grew up in Sonora, CA, attended Modesto Junior College, and then attended Baylor University on a basketball scholarship. He graduated from SFSU with a BS in Mathematics. Ed became the President of Centura Software and was able to retire in 1990. His life's passion was devoted to his family, friends, serving the Lord and discipling others to grow in their faith in Jesus Christ. He always had a smile on his face and made everyone, including strangers, feel special. He truly had the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and self-control. The desire of his heart, was that all would come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. Ed's passing has left a huge hole in our hearts, but we know that we will see him again. A celebration of Ed's life will be held Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 11 am at The Point Church, 3695 Rose Terrasse Circle, San Jose. In lieu of flowers the family prefers contributions to the Evergreen Valley Church, Ed Harris Memorial Scholarship Fund, 2750 Yerba Buena Rd, San Jose, 95121.

Ed, you were an amazing man here on earth and now transformed into an amazing angel in heaven looking down over your loved ones. Your example of God's love, mercy and kindness was evident to everyone you touched! Your spiritual legacy is remarkable and many have come to know the Lord through your efforts. You will be greatly missed until we see you again in heaven!

I met Ed not long after Greg and I started hanging out together in High School. He and I played racquetball in the morning at Almaden Athletic Club for a few years. We always played two games and he would usually let me win the second game. :-)

He had a rich character and he was the example to the world how to live a life of integrity and passion. He left an indelible impression on me and he will live in my memories for the rest of my life.

I came to know Ed about six years ago. I always looked forward to the fun conversations we shared while he sat in my chair at the salon for me to cut his hair. He was one of the kindest, most giving and gracious people I have had the pleasure to know. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time.

Eddie
It seems like yesterday we were buddies and best friends at Sonora High. You have been a wonderful part of my life- no matter how many miles seperated us.
Thank you for teaching me how to be a true sportsman, and how to love a best friend. You are and will be a warm part of my heart forever. God now has a new awesome angel by his side.

My Father, my best friend, my mentor, and truly ... the BEST MAN I HAVE EVER KNOWN! This MAN OF GOD is with our loving Father in Heaven, but the void that is left behind is undescribeable. Added with the fact that my Mother is without her partner of nearly 42 years, my sisters and I without our Father, the Grandkids without there "Papa", and the fact that my very own son found him passed away at what he loved to do first thing in the morning (Pray, trade stocks, and support those seeking Christ around the world) is so very hard right now! Please pray for our family as we face the world without "Fast Eddie"!!!! Life is so very short - grasp it
