Ronna Kuzminski Obituary
Ronna (Lynch) Kuzminski, 67 of Portland, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 22, 2021 with her husband at her side.
Ronna was born in Lawrence, MA on October 27, 1953. She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Mary (LeMay) Lynch. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School and the Hartford Conservatory.
She married her husband, David T. Kuzminski, and the two of them purchased the CT Valley School of Music & Dance on Main Street, Portland in 1983. Ronna taught dance lessons there to students of all ages for 29 years until she retired to be a grandmother.
In addition to teaching dance, she also taught preschool in Middletown and senior citizen exercise classes for the Towns of Portland, Middletown, and Cromwell for many years.
Despite her long-time battle with Parkinson's Disease, Ronna continued to take walks, attend swing dancing nights with her husband and be active with her grandson.
She is survived by her husband, David, of 47 years, her daughter Sarah Soboleski and son-in-law John of Glastonbury, her son SSG David C. Kuzminski and wife SFC Adriane of East Hampton, her brother-in-law John Kuzminski and wife Joan of Killingworth and her sister-in-law Carol Lunn and husband Howard of Charlton, MA. She has a beautiful grandson, Bennett Soboleski, and also leaves behind many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the Portland Care & Rehabilitation Center as well as to her faithful caretaker, Melissa Tierney.
Family and friends may attend walk-through calling hours at Portland Memorial Funeral Home, 231 Main Street, Portland on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. A 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at St. Mary Church, 51 Freestone Avenue, Portland. Burial will immediately follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ronna's memory to the CT Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association, PO Box 248, Shelton, CT 06484 or to the St. Mary's Church Re-Building Fund, 51 Freestone Avenue, Portland, CT 06480. I'm so sorry to hear this. Ronna was a wonderful preschool teacher with me at the Middletown Co-op; I can still hear her calm and cheerful voice encouraging the children. I was always impressed with the wonderful plans she had for dance recitals. And she was so excited about being a grandmother!
