Alex Floridino Obituary

Alex Floridino, 19

PORTLAND - Alex Floridino, 19, died unexpectedly on Sept. 20, 2017, in Portland. Alex was born in Portland on May 16, 1998, the son of Craig Carrigan and Christina Floridino.

Alex was a family man above all else. He was very respectful and always greeted you with a wide smile and a warm hug.

Despite being diagnosed with osteosarcoma as a child, Alex never lost that smile and positive attitude. While the cancer robbed Al of his ability to continue playing sports, he was an avid fan. He got to enjoy Celtics and sox games with his dad. Like his dad, Alex was a diehard Steelers fan who would get constant rubbing from the rest of his family, all Pats fans.

Alex really enjoyed going to Cape Cod to visit "Ballgame," which is what he called his grandpa Ted. He loved their boating trips in the Cape with Ballgame and his partner Rose.

Like most Italians, Alex loved to eat. He really enjoyed his mother's cooking as well as going out to eat.

Alex loved to laugh. Despite all his struggles his smooth character, charismatic charm, and great sense of humor touched countless people throughout his life.

Alex was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Mike Floridino and paternal grandmother Emma Carrigan.

He is survived by his father Craig Carrigan, mother Christina Floridino; brothers Derrick and Cameron, sister Adrianna; paternal grandfather Theodore Carrigan and his partner Rose Tribou of Buzzards Bay, Mass., maternal great-grandmother Effie Cash; grandmother Barbara Floridino; aunts Krista Carrigan, Ann Marie and Barbie Floridino, uncles Mikey Floridino and Ethan Bixler; cousins Tatum Philbrook, Jordan, Christina, Zoe, JD, Marcus, Domenic, Tyler, Acadia, and Colton; nephew Joey; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, from 9-11a.m., at Grace Baptist Church, 476 Summit St., Portland. Immediately following will be a funeral service. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

I had the pleasure of meeting Alex years ago starting at Lyman Moore Middle School. He was always smiling and constantly surrounded by so many friends that truly loved him. Such a fine young man he was. I am so sorry for your loss and may you all find comfort in your beautiful memories. xo
