Barbara Sheridan Obituary
Sheridan, Barbara Claire
August 24, 1928 - January 24, 2022
Barbara Claire Sheridan passed away on February 24, 2022 in Palm Harbor, FL. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 24, 1928 to Walter "Buster" Brown and Margaret Coughlin Brown.
She was born Barbara Brown and graduated St Joseph's High School in Brooklyn as Salutatorian. She raised her family on Long Island, before moving to North Carolina in 1977.
Barbara was a beautiful and amazing woman. Despite the many tragedies and losses she suffered, she remained steadfast and stubbornly upbeat, with an easy smile and laugh. She was a devoted Mother who tirelessly cared for her large family, while instilling a love of life and a spirit of generosity. She continued her caring ways with her grandchildren and although her Grandson Danny jokingly told her "Nana, you're not funny," she most certainly was. People loved to be around her and with her dramatic flair, she loved to make them laugh.
Her Catholic faith was central to her life. As a communicant at Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons, she was a dedicated member, attending mass daily, bringing communion to invalids, serving as a sponsor in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, and as President of the Holy Family Senior's organization. She wrote, "I'm close to my church and not just in distance; Jesus sustains me every moment of my life."
In her spare time, Barbara enjoyed golfing, traveling, reading throughout her life, and keeping up with politics. Her most cherished time was her time with her family. She loved holidays and many holiday meals with family were memorable. She was a doting grandmother and great grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her first husband, Albert Gillings; second husband, Harry Sheridan; and third husband Donald Moore; her son, Daniel Sheridan; daughter, Madelyn Sheridan; grandson, Joshua Sheridan; and brother, Robert Brown. She leaves behind her children, Barbara "Cathy" Wiehl (Bernard), Elizabeth "Bethe" Reynolds, Christopher Sheridan, Edmund Sheridan, and Robert Sheridan; grandchildren, Douglas Wiehl, Jacob Rankin (Kristina), Timothy Rankin (Melissa), Thomas Rankin (Laura), Alex Reynolds (Leanne), Mary Reynolds, Lauren Sheridan, Christopher V. Sheridan, Joseph Sheridan, Gabrielle Sheridan, Rachael Sheridan, Jonathan Sheridan, Casey Stanley, John "Danny" Jarvis, and Catherine "Catie" Jarvis; 12 great grandchildren; and many other loved ones and beloved friends.
The family wishes to thank all of those in Arden Courts, Palm Harbor, who cared for her during her last days.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Thursday, March 10th from 3pm – 7pm at Frank Vogler & Sons in Clemmons. A Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Friday, March 11th at 11am, followed by interment at the Holy Family Cemetery.
