My condolences to the family of Billy Joe Cross. He was my basketball and track coach at Culkin, and a good one. A man with a lot of character, spirit and resourcefulness. He also worked with my dad at Spencer Chemical, so I knew more of his goodness through my dad.
I know he will be sorely missed~

There aren't enough words to express the loss of such a longstanding friendship between our family and Billy Joe. So many hunting and fishing trips and the many laughs and great times will stay in memory lane forever.
RIP Uncle BJ.

The passing of a legend, at least to me. As a Minnesotan sent to MS, and welcomed by Billie Joe, I could not have been in better hands. He annointed himself my "Souhtern Daddy" and introduced me to all things Southern. It included people, geography, the out of doors, culture and, of course food. Billie Joe and Miss Robbie, and family, made becoming a part of MS an awesome pleasure and a part of our family forever.
May God bless you BJ.

We were honored the evening he chose our kitchen to prepare a meal for fellow DU staff. It was many years ago but his presence and gentlemanly ways made a lasting impression on all. It was his way and he did it to make others happy

Sending our deepest sympathy. My family has a wide range of memories with this wonderful man. Working, hunting, fishing, cooking, and most of all his friendship over the years.

Billy Joe was my mentor and introduction to Ducks Unlimited above the State level. He was an incredible motivator; dedicated conservationist and sportsman. I relish in the incredible memories I have of an incredible man and our relationship. Thank you Billy Joe for all that you have done for me and the many, many others in all walks of life that can feel privileged to call you "Friend". My fondest memory is of a fishing camp in Mississippi with you and Matt Connolly.....an interview of sorts for/of me to be able to continue my volunteer career with DU. I remember an Aix Sponsa that departed that morning from the coffee table in the lodge; flying through an opened door; I pray that you had the same escort and will now watch over our earthly wild creatures from above. Godspeed and faithful rest my Friend.

My mom is Sharon Gibson and she is Billy Joe's sister. He was an amazing man! Quite talented and generous! We are thankful we were able to visit him a couple of months ago and he seemed to enjoy the visit. Unfortunately my mom's husband has had major surgery recently so we will be unable tho attend the funeral. We send our condolences.

Billly Joe was a great friend and mentor. We enjoyed cooking at his home and at my home in Bismarck, ND. For years we exchanged ND German sausage for Mississippi white rice. My thoughts and prayers go out to Ms Robbie and family. Con Hillman (Bismarck, ND)
