Carl Hevert

Carl Hevert of East Orleans died peacefully, at home with his family in the early morning Sunday, April 27. Carl and Nora, his wife of sixty one years, honeymooned on Cape Cod and moved to E. Orleans from New Jersey in 1996. Carl and his deceased brother Herb were sons of German immigrants and educated at Stevens Institute of Technology Engineering School in Hoboken, N.J. As a guidance system aerospace engineer, Carl was V.P. of Manufacturing at Kearfott in Little Falls NJ. Carl held a patent for the vertical gyroscope. In retirement, Carl was a dedicated public servant working tirelessly to make Orleans an even better place to live now and for future generations. He instilled respect and appreciation for nature to his children and grandchildren. Carl loved enjoying Nauset Beach with family and friends year round. Carl is survived by his wife, Nora, four children, eight grandchildren and three great-granddaughters. A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 29th at 11 am at the Brewster Baptist Church, in Brewster, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Carl Hevert Memorial Scholarship, which will benefit local graduating students pursuing further education focused on Math, Science or Engineering.
