Christopher Bascom Obituary

Christopher Daniel Bascom, age 60, passed away unexpectedly on January 2, 2026, in Lake Jackson, Texas.

Chris's St. Louis roots ran deep. His family moved to Texas from St. Louis in the 1970s, and while his history and heritage remained firmly tied to Missouri, Chris was - at heart - a true Texan. He embodied the fierce independence captured in the words attributed to Davy Crockett, "You may all go to hell, and I will go to Texas." That bold, defiant spirit - where everything is bigger, louder, and lived fully - suited Chris perfectly.

Chris was, without question, the funniest person in the room. He didn't need a stage - every conversation was his stand-up act. His humor was quick, irreverent, and generous, and laughter followed him wherever he went. If you were lucky enough to know him, you didn't just laugh at his stories - you laughed with him, until your sides hurt.

More than anything, Chris was loyal - fiercely so. He had a way of making the people he loved feel protected and safe, like he always had their back no matter what.

Chris sold cars for most of his life, and he was legendary at it. If you walked into the dealership, you walked out with a vehicle - and probably a story and a laugh. He didn't just sell cars; he connected with people.

Chris loved life's simple, honest pleasures: playing with his beloved labs, Miley and Bella, shooting birds, stinking up the grill, poker games, his truck, and baseball. Baseball was a true passion, and it was through the game that Chris shared one of the greatest joys of his life - the bond with his son, Jordan Christopher Bascom. From games to conversations and everything in between, time spent together around baseball was deeply cherished.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Carol Ann Knoll and William Sheldon Bascom III, and by his beloved grandmother, Georgia Ann Willmore Hatton (MaMere), who held a special place in his life. He bore a striking resemblance to his great-grandfather, Cyrus Crane Willmore, a visionary developer whose legacy shaped St. Louis and the Lake of the Ozarks. Cyrus Willmore developed these areas, where Willmore Lodge still stands today and Willmore Park bears his name - a lasting testament to the family's history and influence.

Chris is survived by his son, Jordan Christopher Bascom; his former wife, Anissa Stickley; his sisters Anne Elisabeth Bascom McCormick (Tom) and Shelley Bascom Barndollar; and his nephew Michael Peyton Crisler Jr. and niece Mallory Piper Barndollar.

A visitation and service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Restwood Funeral Home in Clute, Texas.

Chris leaves behind family and friends who will miss him deeply, laugh at his stories forever, and feel his absence in the quiet moments where his voice should be.

Someday, we hope he's saved us a place at the bar - where there's a drink waiting, a story ready, and laughter echoing once again.

Rest easy, Chris. Be pain free. You were deeply loved.
