He retired after 40 years of Civil Service from Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point N.C. Clarence was a member of the First Baptist Church in Havelock. He was also a member of Twin Rivers Corvette Club and played in the Tidewater Seniors Golf Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence M. Edwards Sr. and Myrtle Godwin Edwards.
He is survived by his wife Sharon Edwards of Carolina Pines; brother Keith Edwards of Havelock, N.C.; two uncles, Carly Edwards of Asheboro, N.C., and Leamon Godwin of Dunn N.C., and numerous cousins.
Services will be held Tuesday July 5, 2011, at Cotten Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m., and will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Don Hadley. Interment will follow at Spring Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, Dunn, N.C. at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2011.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund at 111 Hollywood Blvd., Havelock, NC 28532.

Beth, I just got the news about Clarence. He was a great guy and I treasure our memories at Carolina Pines. He was such a good friend to me when I was going through an awful time in my life. Beth, I know that you are are going to miss Clarence Jr, but he is in a better place and he is in no pain now and I have some good memories of him and i can rember hime about a little over a month you both came down and we had lunch at Cracker Barell and had a good visit and he was looking good.
