What can I say about Uncle Dan that shows how special he was. One of my favorite memories is the bird in the flower pot. I'd never seen anybody pet a wild bird. Just goes to show even the birds knew he was special. I'll miss you Uncle Dan. Thanks for all the prayers. Love you - Kathy

Uncle Dan was one of the most talented people I know. He could make/ build/ create anything he set out to do. It didn't matter if it was woodwork, needlework, photography or whatever---he could do it and do it well. I've always been in awe of his amazing talents. And, of course, anyone who knew him knew how much he loved his family. Though I haven't seen him much in recent years, any time I did or even talked to him on the phone, he always filled me on the latest with his grandchildren. He always had stories! I've lived far away until not long ago and haven't seen him in recent years but certainly have fond memories, especially from when Phyllis, Nancy and I were young kids ourselves. I'm so grateful I was able to speak with him on the phone earlier this week. Aunt Dot, Nancy and the rest of the family: my thoughts and prayers are with you! Much love, Kim Austin

Mr. Austin was a great neighbor. He always had excellent conversation topics and offered his help to my family during some tough times. He is going to be missed, but always remembered.

I am going to miss Dan very much. Always talked to Dan when I called Dot, we kinda argued some, he kinda like to push my button. Lots of good times all our friends from First Baptist Deer Park, lots of parties and trips with Silver Set. He even got my pecan pie recipe and mastered that too. Dan had his hands into about everything, making furniture, gardening, cooking, and you name it he could do it. Will always remember him as a good family man and Christian. So long my friend, I know he is finding his way around Heaven with those that have gone before us.
