Daniel Rifkin

1954 - 2025

Daniel "Danny" Rifkin, 70, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away peacefully April 1, 2025, surrounded by family. A lifelong Fort Wayne resident, he was the son of the late Leonard and Norma Jean (Smith) Rifkin. Danny was a proud graduate of Elmhurst High School and earned his degree from the University of Miami. He spent his career in the scrap industry, rising to President and CEO of OmniSource, co-founding Steel Dynamics, Inc., and later founding MetalX. Beyond his professional success, Danny's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his children Neal, Sarah, and Mark; his grandchildren Levi, Sophia, and Benjamin; brothers Ricky and Marty; and his beloved fiancé, Tamara Braun. Danny will be remembered for his sharp mind, dry wit, generous heart, and unforgettable smile. May his memory be a blessing. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 6, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home (8325 Covington Rd, Fort Wayne, IN), followed by a service and eulogy from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM. A graveside service will take place immediately following at Lindenwood Cemetery (2324 W. Main St., Fort Wayne, IN). All are welcome to attend.
