Dean C. West went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 after a long battle with dementia. He was born on February 17, 1937 to Clyde and Dema West in Groveton, TX. Dean was a six-generation Texan and came to Pasadena in February 1942. His family was early pioneers of Texas. Dean also served as a reserve in the US Air Force. In 1958, when he was 21, he traveled to the Brussels World Fair where he and Cecil Ghormley represented Pasadena. In addition, he wrote and sang the title song for the movie "Five Bold Women" amongst other tunes. He married Inadon Tramel and had three boys and became a pipe fitter. After retiring from that profession, he worked for the City of Pasadena as an inspector.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Inadon West; parents; brother, Q. A. James; and sister, Betty Lou Lamb. Dean is survived by his son and wife, Chris and Wendy West, along with their children, Maegan and Lyndsey West and Jeremey Hensarling and his wife Amanda. His great-grandchildren are Levi, Rick, Alyssa, and Noah. He is also survived by son, Matt West and his wife Carol along with their children, Alex and Carson West. His son Greg West and his children Kaylyn West and Cheyenne Roosma also survive Dean. He also leaves behind one loving and adoring brother, Honorable Judge David West and his wife Gayle, who helped us take care of him as this horrible disease ate through his body. Finally, numerous nephews and nieces will miss him as will his long time friend and traveling buddy, Cecil Ghormley.
Visitation will be held at Grand View Funeral Home on Sunday, December 14, 2014 from 4pm to 6pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 10am in the chapel of Grand View Funeral Home. Please join us in remembering Dean.
