Dear Mrs. Rappaport
I was a brand new junior at PW in 1954 and this man probably did more for me to inspire and give me confidence in myself than any other person in my life. I will always remember Don for being so easy-going and congenial.
He told me a story about getting his car repaired for an electrical malfunction. The mechanic worked on his car all day and when Don arrived to pick up his car, he was still trying to figure out what was wrong. Don asked him if he had the capabilities to solve this problem and I know he meant to just ask whether he was in the right place for the repair. The mechanic, with deliberation, slowly picked up all the tools he had been using and methodically returned them to his toolbox and without one word walked away. Don was stunned by the reaction but a comedy writer couldn't have depicted a funnier scene.
Rest in peace dear friend.

DEAR MRS RAPPAPORT WHILE AT PW I WORKED WITH DON ATB LEAST TWO YEARS ESTABLISHING CPS PROGRAM FOR SMALL BUSINESSES. DON'S WISDOM, POLITICAL INSIGHTS, JOKES ANDKEEN INTEREST IN GOVERNMENT MADE THOSE YEARS MEMORABLE. ALTHOUGH MY POLITICAL PREFERENCES WERTE PROBABLY 100% OPPOSITE DON,S, WE GOT ALONG VERY WELL. HE WILL BE SORELY MISSED. RICK STAEDFTLER LANGHORNE

Dear Susan, Don was my (probably only) mentor. He was one of the true great partners of the great firm. His integrity and honesty were unparalleled--although not always easy to take. I remember well his concern about my behavior at a client meeting and his later advice that "there is no such thing as constructive criticism." I also will never forget the dinner you hosted when I left the firm--hopefully Don was not too disappointed when I came back. It was always important to me to know that he was there....I will miss him greatly. His contributions to me, to the office, and to the firm, were enormous. I owe a lot to both of you. Kevin Gaynor
