Modesto, California - Eleanor Rangel Lugo was born and raised in Fresno, CA, to Joseph and Mary Rangel. She passed away peacefully at the age of 86.
Eleanor attended grade school and high school in the Fresno area. In 1957 she married her husband Alfred and together they embarked on a 65 year adventure through life. Eleanor moved with her husband and their three small children several times before settling in Modesto, CA, in 1968. That same year she began working for Stanislaus County as a clerk/typist. She worked for the county for 25 years until health issues necessitated her retirement in 1993.
Eleanor and her husband built a life of fun and adventure for their family. They spent most of their weekends in their camper traveling to the mountains, beaches, and especially the lakes where they enjoyed boating and water-skiing. They loved the lake so much that together they built their cherished cabin at Lake Don Pedro.
Eleanor endeavored to provide an enriching childhood for her children. She made sure they had the opportunity to experience music, various sports, and crafts. She enjoyed partaking in many of these opportunities alongside her children.
Eleanor was a member of the Modesto Central Seventh Day Adventist Church and worked hard so that she could send her children to Modesto Adventist Elementary and High schools.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her husband Alfred G. Lugo, Jr., her father Joseph Rangel, her mother Mary Horton, and her brother, Joseph Hugh Horton.
She is survived by her son Robert Lugo (Amber), her two daughters Camille Abeldt (Phil) and Beverly Medeiros (John), her brother Jerry Horton (Carol), her grandchildren Tiffany Galas (Jay), Jason Lugo, Natasha DeLeon, Johnny DeLeon (Rene), Amelia Stratton (Jason), and Erica Vander Veen (TJ), her step-grandchildren Jenny Lay (John), Bryan Banuelos (Windy), Eric Banuelos, Jocelyn Splan (Blake), Hannah Castillon, Abby Castillon, and Sophia Castillon, and nine great-grandchildren.
Services and committal to be provided by Lakewood Funeral Home and Memorial Park with visitation and funeral services to be held on Monday, June 12, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home in the Riverside Chapel. Committal service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson, CA 95326
