I have so many memories with Greg, but i think my favorite was in high school. I was standing in my driveway talking to him as he sat in his car and his foot slipped off the brake and the car door knocked me down. He ran right over my legs. Of course Gregs version was totally different. His version is i fell under his car and he lifted the car off me. I just roll my eyes and dont argue. He brought my mom and I lunch every day for about 2 weeks untill i was back on my feet. Ive never let him live that one down. Greg loves to tell stories, mostly about his kids that he was so so proud of, his family and his boxing career. I never thought i would say this, but i am so going to miss hearing his stories that ive heard over and over, and i am so going to miss my very good friend. He had a heart like no other. It hurts my heart that he is gone, but i am so thankful to have been his friend. He will be missed by many.

Helllooooooo! We will miss you always. You weren't just our refrigeration guy. You were a friend and part of our family. I didn't mind sharing my candy or chocolate milk with you. Anytime we needed you all we had to do was ask. When you hadn't heard from us in awhile you would check in and visit with us. We loved hearing about your kids and grandkids. Thank you for the good times. Rest in peace dear friend.

To the Gorrell family, I am so very sorry for your loss. I had the good fortune to meet Greg forty some years ago as we ran around with the same group of friends. Greg was so much fun to be around with his upbeat, funny sense of humor and energetic spirit! He always flashed that light up the room smile, enjoyed a prank and clearly loved life. We caught up on fb a few years ago and it is clear to see that he never lost his upbeat, positive attitude and zest for life! Rest in peace my friend, you will be missed.

I knew Greg thru boxing I was an amateur and he was a professional, He was easy going and always friendly. I sparred with him at his gym in Haysville at the old lumber yard and did I find out the difference between amateur and professional he hit me with an uppercut and I felt the numbness all the way to my feet. But I felt I had learned a little bit more about defense than I did before. Ha!!
Later on I fought in his toughman promotion once and judged one too.
So long my friend,
Jonathan Cherney

I didn't know Greg well as I grew older, however I did know him as a child and all I can remember is how kind he was. My mother has told me all about him, and her many good memories of when they were younger. All I can say is that many people could take a lesson from how humble and kind he was. He will be miss by many, I pray for Greg's family and am very sorry and greatly saddened for this loss.

I worked with Greg many times while he was in the boxing business, when he was a fighter and a promoter as well. I can honestly say he was as solid a fellow as you will ever find. A man of his word, and a guy that would go out of his way to help out when needed. They don't come any better.

I walked in to the boxing gym one day in 1980 and seen this guy punching the bag and asked Ned Hallacy who is this guy? He introduced me to Greg Gorrell and we shook hands and that was the beginning of a wonderful friendship. Greg and I trained together, fought together and promoted fights together. He always had a smile on his face and never knew a stranger. Greg had a big heart and would help anyone. Its been an Honor to know him and he was a true champion. The final bell has rung; I will see you in the Ring on the other side. Rest in peace my friend. I extend my deepest sympathy to his family for their loss.

Greg was the best time I ever had. We could talk for hours. He never showed up empty handed wether it be Taco's, Pizza , 2 beers one for me and one for him. He was such a tease, just like he was in high school. He chased my little dog all over the house repeating her name like a chant ( he never did catch her) . This was a ritual, he'd laugh and say , "why doesn she like me" We would sit and talk about everything, shared secrets and gossiped. About 1030 pm he would yawn his eyes showed the wear and tear of his day he would give me a big bear hug and sweetly say we'll talk tomorrow. He would head towards his van and would start laughing, and stop in front of my unfriendly neighbor and say "Turn down thatTV" she'd hollar back "shut up" and
"quit parking in my spot!". And off he would go laughing only to come back in a day or two, park in her spot, and chase my dog. I told my neighboor of Gregs untimely passing and she sobbed. That sweetheart of a man
found good in everyone. Greg was the kindest most understanding man I've ever known
It's been an honor and a pleasure spending time with Greg ... I don't believe it can be topped .. I miss you madly.
Until we meet again my sweet friend.
I love you Greg.
Rest peacefully, you were perfect!
