HERBERT PARMET Obituary
Professor Herbert S. Parmet, Formerly of New York, NY, passed away January 25, 2017, age 87 in Newton, MA, after a long illness. Loving husband of 68 years to Joan (Kronish) Parmet, beloved father of Wendy Parmet and Ron Lanoue, grandfather to Anna and Daniel Lanoue, and brother of Robert Parmet. Distinguished historian at the Graduate Center of City University of New York and Queensborough Community College, author of eight Presidential biographies and histories including Jack: The Struggles of John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon: An American Enigma, and Eisenhower and the American Crusades. Funeral will be Monday, January 30 at 10am at Levine Chapels, Brookline, MA. Always appreciated Herb's advice and support. He was a great friend and contributor to Hillsdale's history.

We are so sorry for your lost.The short time we knew Herb we enjoyed his company he was such a gentleman. Bud says whenever Herb spoke he spoke with a lot of knowledge about his subject. Bud still has the Kennedy biography that Herb gave and signed to him. He thinks a lot of that gift. Bud remembers those Democratic meetings in private homes to pick candidates for Hillsdale's town offices one of which was you Joan!

My condolences to the Parmet family. Herb leaves many friends in Columbia County, which is where I enjoyed meeting him, in the 1990s.

The short time I got to know Mr. Parmet was invaluable. Thanks to his beloved grandson Dan, I was able to spend some time with him and his wife Joan. I will always remember his sweet demeanor and I'm a better person having known him.
