Nellie Faye Mitcham

Funeral services celebrating the life of Nellie Faye Mitcham will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Jennings Chapel Congregational Methodist Church, 368 Hwy 1228, Marthaville, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Rev. Joe Hendrickson and Rev. Brian Jennings. Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery, Marthaville, Louisiana. A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the church.

Faye was born on November 18, 1932, to Richard and Maude Hinton Jordan in Robeline, Louisiana and entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 7, 2023, in Coushatta, Louisiana.

Preceding Faye in death are her parents, Richard and Maude Jordan; first husband, Vonnie J. Bruce; second husband, Merwin Mitcham; grandsons, William Scott Bruce and Allen Winfree; and daughter-in-law, Brenda Katherine Bruce.

Left to cherish her memory include her son, Butch Bruce; siblings, Effie Ates, Terry Dale Jordan, Bobbie Meshell, and Gary “Buddy” Jordan; grandchildren, Chris Bruce and wife Patty, Angela Dawson and husband Allen, and Angela Winfree and husband Justin; great grandchildren, Brennan Bruce, Logan Bruce, Mary Katherine Dawson, Benjamin Dawson, Matthew Dawson, Brooke Scott, Joshua Townsend, Jared Townsend, Nathan Winfree, Hailey Shaw, Jordan Bruce, Katelyn Dubois, and Haley Killingsworth; great great grandchildren, Nora Scott, Madelyn Scott, Micah Scott, Evelyn Dubois and Rowdy Scott Dubois; special friends, Naomi Fudge, and Coy Birdwell; a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Wyche Coleman, Jr., Dr. Sean Troxclair, and the nurses and staff at Christus Coushatta Hospital.
