James Jeter Obituary

James "Chris" Christopher Jeter of Willis, TX, was born on June 17, 1969, in Houston, Texas, and passed away on November 10, 2025. His family moved to Thibodaux, Louisiana, in 1972. In 1974, the family moved to Conroe, Texas, and Chris grew up in the Forest Hills subdivision. Chris was a 1987 graduate of Conroe High School. In high school, he excelled in drafting and won awards for aircraft design. Chris attended Sam Houston State University and later graduated from Rice Aviation in Houston.

Chris worked as an aircraft mechanic at the Conroe airport. He later worked for BJ Services in Houston as an oilfield mechanic.

Chris was a classic car enthusiast and dirt track racer and enjoyed building and modifying his own show cars. He enjoyed spending his weekends at car shows and car races, and cruising with his car club around Montgomery and surrounding counties.

He is survived by his daughter, Madison Elyssa Jeter of Hot Springs, Arkansas, son, Justin Caleb Jeter of Warren, Arkansas, sister, Julie Jeter Benich and husband Tony of Conroe, sister, Lisa Carole Garrett and husband Gavin of Slidell, Louisiana, nephew, Matthew Joel Vesel and wife Brittany of Renton, Washington, niece, Amanda Shaw of Guinda, California, niece, Megan Garrett of New Orleans, Louisiana, and nephew, Chet Garrett and wife Rachel of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, aunt, Freida Jackson, first cousin Randy Cox and wife Betsy of Marshall, Texas, first cousin, Russ Cox and wife Kristina of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and first cousin, Matilda Frederick and husband Logan of Cibolo, as well as numerous extended family members and many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marye Jeter Thornby of Conroe, and father, James Guidry Jeter of Houston.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, February 28th, 2026, at 2 pm in the Oak Hall reception room at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas.
