Jeremy Alan Cates, 35, of Evansville, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2012, at his home. He was born January 19, 1976, in Evansville.
Jeremy was a member of Local Union 136 Plumbers and Steamfitters.
He graduated from North High School in 1994.
Jeremy loved to play guitar and was a wonderful artist. He enjoyed Geo-Caching and the outdoors. He loved Parks and Garden of the Gods. He loved his family very much.
Jeremy is survived by two sons, Kennen and Cole Cates; daughter, Emma Cates; mother, Eva Kendall; brothers, John, Christopher, Shawn, and Nicolas Cates; sister, Destini Kendall; aunts, uncles, and cousins; and girlfriend, Riah Cody.
Services will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at Alexander East Chapel. Friends may visit Tuesday from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the funeral home.

When we planned to run away and live in the trains I can't remember if it was you or Shawn (maybe both) insisted we must pack Vienna sausages! Jeremy, my heart is broke, even though i hadnt talked to you in a couple years. I will always remember your sense of humor and your beautiful smile. You were with me the day I found out my Dad died. You told me it was going to be ok, and he was in a better place. You took great care of me through that time and made sure I was alright. Even though I haven't seen Jeremy in years, I think of him often, and am stunned and saddened to hear of his passing. I will always fondly recall the times we spent together as teenagers. Jeremy had a great sense of humor, and always made me laugh. In fact, there are still lines and inside jokes he came up with that I still think of and smile.

You did a good job raising those boys Eva and Destini too. My mother has always said that no parent should ever have to plan their own child's funeral because it is so painful.
