WARREN, Jimmy C. Jimmy C. Warren, 81, of Atlanta, GA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 28, 2016. He was a great man of faith and character. He could always be depended on by friends and family. Because his life was an example of how a Christian should live, doing the right thing the right way, he was loved and respected by many. Jimmy was born in Bowdon, GA on June 13, 1935. After attending West Georgia College, he began a lifelong career in the commercial construction industry. He first worked for his brother at The Warren Contracting Company. He furthered his building career, when he joined commercial real estate developer A.R. Weeks and Assoc. Finally, in 1987, Jimmy began his own company, The J.C. Warren Company, which he ran until he retired in 2008. Jimmy and his family were vital members of Briarlake Baptist church. Being a member since 1965, he was involved in the church in many areas. He served as deacon for more years than he could remember, and was elected chairman of the deacons twice. He stepped in as the interim activities director, and was involved in renovating every building of the church, including the construction of the tennis courts and baseball field. Even with all his accomplishments, Jimmy's greatest joy and legacy is his family. His marriage of 60 years to his loving wife, Etha, was a great model of a loving, enduring relationship. He was the guiding force for his kids. However, for his grandkids, Jimmy was a rock of inspiration. He leaves them all with a great love, a great foundation, and beautiful memories. Jimmy is survived by his wife, Etha, their children Mike Warren (Carol) and Lisa Godwin Holland (Rich), his four grandchildren Baxle Costabile (Phil), Jimmy D. Warren, Chris Godwin, and Michelle Godwin. There will be two services held in Jimmy's honor. A service will be held in his home town of Bowdon, GA on Friday, October 7 at Corinth Baptist Church at 11:00 am. A reception following the service. The family will then receive friends at H.M. Patterson Oglethorpe Chapel, 4550 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30319 on Sunday Oct. 9 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm. A second service to honor the life of Jimmy C. Warren will be held on Monday, October 10 at Briarlake Baptist Church at 11:00 am. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers the family asked that donations be made to Briarlake Baptist Church 3715 LaVista Road, Decatur, Ga 30033. Online condolences may be made at www.hmpattersonoglethorpe.com

Etha, since I've been there recently I know what you are going through. What we have though is God going with us every step of the way. Also many friends and family with you. Such a blessing knowing that Jimmy and David are no longer suffering. I will never forget our years together at Briarlake and our fun times playing bridge and just being together celebrating Christian friendship. Lean on his everlasting arms.

Sweet Etha, we grieve with you and your family for the huge loss of such a dear, sweet man, yet we celebrate Jimmy's life and the special ways he had in reaching out to others. To know that Jimmy is wrapped in God's loving arms will give you great comfort in the days ahead. We have the utmost respect for you because of the gracious way you handled that horrible disease that ended Jimmy's life here on Earth. Our prayer for you and your family is that through your darkest hours of missing your beloved husband, father, and grandfather, y'all will come out on the other side with a lighter heart. So sorry to hear about the loss of one of the most kind, and honorable man I've ever known, jimmy and I worked together for a number of years, our loss is Heavens gain....with Jimmy everything was always "jam up and jelly tight"
