John Blackmar Obituary

CUMBERLAND - John Roger Blackmar, known to most as "Roger", 86, of Cumberland, passed away, Christmas morning, Friday December 25, 2020 at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket. He was the loving husband of Hazel (Davy) Blackmar. They were married on September 29, 1956 and shared over 64 wonderful years together until Rogers passing.

Born on October 15, 1934 in Providence, he was one of four sons of the late George C. and Myrtle (Skinner) Blackmar. He was raised in the South Attleboro, MA / Cumberland, RI area.

In addition to his wife of 64 years Roger is survived by two sons, John Robert Blackmar and his wife Ann of Warwick and Jeffrey Blackmar of Pawtucket, and a daughter Karen Blackmar-Lavoie of South Attleboro. He was the brother of Allan Blackmar of Pine Plains, New York and the late Stewart and Arnold Blackmar. Roger is also survived by 6 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and their families.

Roger served with honors in the United States Army Reserves during the late 1950's as a member of the 76th Infantry Division. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Services for Roger were private. He was laid to rest in Highland Memorial Park in Johnston. Arrangements are in care of the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home 142 Centerville Rd. Warwick, RI. For John's complete obituary please visit www.boyleandsonfuneralhome.com
