John Granfield Coffey was a kind and delightful friend. I knew him through my friendship with his now deceased & beloved partner, Clare Peckham. He always had a smile on his face, & spoke always in a kind way. I was friends both with John & Clare, & miss each of them.

Please accept my sincere condolences in your family's loss of John. I was sorry to learn of his illness and am grieved to learn of his death. I had lost touch with John and Clare in recent years, but my late husband and I had been long-time friends of both. I have enjoyed greatly my many memories of John's kindness, dry wit and his overall great appreciation of life. Earlier today, I related a story about John's very gentlemanly - and very funny - behavior toward a pompous waiter at the Madison Beach Hotel. May you find comfort in your memories of John's kindness, love, intelligence and wit.
