John Palm Obituary

John D. Palm Passed away at home in San Francisco, March 27, 2006. He was born April 2, 1947, to the late Carl and Agnes Palm. At the age of 4, John moved with his family from Omaha, NE, to San Francisco where he lived most of his life. He was a proud S.F. citizen and loyal 49er fan. John served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He retired from the San Francisco Newspaper Agency after 30 years of employment. He was a loving husband and proud father and will be remembered as a generous person whose door was open to all. He will be missed by his wife, Annette Palm; his ex-wife, Keiko Palm; son, Charles Palm; daughter and her husband, Miki and Brian Minami; uncle and aunt, Howard and Trudie Palm; and by many friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service Friday, March 31, 2006, 3PM at The Neptune Society Columbarium, 1 Loraine Court, SF.

Please accept our condolences for the passing of John Palm. John was my cousin, and he visited us in Kansas City when he was a teenager. We enjoyed his visit along with his mother and father, Jed and Carl Palm. My mother was Blanche Palm Riggle, a sister to Carl Palm. I do remember that John was fun to be with.

Many years later, our family visited Carl and Jed and John and his family during a trip to San Francisco. We will keep his family in our prayers as we know this is a very difficult time for them.

I am the daughter of Lloyd Palm who was the older brother of John's father Carl Palm. I grew up in San Francisco and spent many childhood hours with John and his parents. I regret that we lost touch in later years. I know that he will be greatly missed by his family and I will keep them in my thoughts and prayersl.

I am the daughter of Donna Riggle Lehmkuhl, granddaughter of Blanche Palm Riggle. I remember John, Jed and Carl's visit to Indianola, though I was quite young. I remember John being young, dark, handsome and full of energy. My thoughts are with all of you at this sad time.

I wish to pay my respects to John Palm, son of Carl Palm. Carl was my Grandmother's brother. Her name was Blanche Riggle. My mother, Donna (Riggle) Lehmkuhl was a cousin to John, I believe. My mother is Blanche's daughter. Oddly enough, I am staying at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago this weekend. Supposedly, this hotel was where two brothers who traveled from Sweden were employed for some time. They liked the name Palmer House so well, they changed their name to Palm. My condolences to all of John's family. I know he will be missed.

We think of John as the young man, the man dedicated to his country, in love with his family and so very proud of his son and daughter. But this is changed now and we share memories with each one of you. May God come to you and give you the touch of strength, comfort and courage. Trudie and I are keeping you, Annette and Keido, in our thoughts and are so grateful to yuu for the love and care you showered upon him. As you gather to remember John on Friday commend his spirit to the life eternal. Our sympathy and love are with you.
