H John and I were good friends in high school. Although we only saw each other a time or two after graduation, I still think of him often. Some of my fondest memories and stories are of things we did as dumb kids. I hate knowing you are gone, buddy.

I am certain that friends and family don't know me at all but I was cleaning out my emails that have just been sitting there and need cleaned out. Back in 2013 as I was facing foreclosure on a pro se basis I had called a LOT of attorneys and asked assistant if they could ask the attorney if they could ring me back and point me in the right direction.
ONE GUY CALLED ME BACK, JOHN SHERROD WAS THAT GUY! EVEN knowing I was going to be representing myself JOHN TOOK HIS TIME AND CALLED ME BACK. I faxed my filings to him for review and he'd suggest a change here or a tweak there. That's rare and says so much about the kind of guy he was.
Sorry this is late. Thought you should know.

Lynn and I just found out and couldn't believe the news of John's passing. We were supposed to go to dinner and talk baseball. You were so sincere listening to me about the loss of our daughter-know that I am here to support you. Sometimes life isn't fair and just doesn't make any sense. Gob Bless, JD and Lynn

Nicole,
Kathy and I just heard of John's passing. We wanted to take a moment to let you know how truly grateful we are for his guidance in our foreclosure issues. He struck me as a highly compassionate man with a purpose. No matter how busy he was, he always answered calls or returned them promptly, making us believe we were his most important client. Integrity. Such a rare character trait anymore. We were blessed to know him. Immediately, upon hearing the news, our hearts were torn. We will be actively covering you and your family with prayers. May you be blessed as only HE can.

Havent seen or talked to John since high school. I played baseball with him for Jackson. We were young and I remember him for his great sense of humor. One of the funniest guys on the team. I thought of him today for some reason. Decided to look him up. Saw a name on TV. The name on TV started with the initial H at the beginning of the name and I thought of him and smiled. He used to joke about putting the H at the front of his name. H. John Sherrod. It was on his locker. So funny. I am sorry to hear of his sudden death. My prayers to his family. Seems he lived a great life. Some don't achieve that kind of life success. Sorry man. Too soon...

Dear Nicole,
My deepest sympathies to you and the children. John deeply loved you, the kids and the dogs-and little else. That's part of what I respected most about him. He knew who was important to him and was genuine about what wasn't. I'll miss his quirky sense of humor and his texts about his adventures with the golden retrievers. His eyes always lit up when he spoke of you. You were the love of his life and you were his saving grace. I was blessed to have taken my journey with him.
May God Bless You

Mary, Jerry, Gerald and Megan---I just heard of John's passing from Chris who was so shaken he had a hard time telling me. My heart aches for all of you dear family and friends.
Our family watched John grow up with Chris, constant buddies playing all sports involving balls, making and collecting baseball cards, building forts, swimming, sailing, playing tennis, being in cub scouts, riding bikes, skate boards, talking math with Larry Holtkamp, collecting Star Wars, teasing Kay, chasing girls on the playground and beyond. Ever funny and fun, the pranksters, the dynamic duo.
I'll miss you "Rabbit", now for longer than ever imagined….so full of life, sparkle, and promise. The world is worse for losing you. You upped the ante in any game.
I am praying peace and comfort find you all. With deep sorrow and abiding love, Melanie

We were very saddened and shocked to hear of Mr. Sherrod's passing earlier today. He helped us with our foreclosure. We met him at his office on a Saturday morning, he met us with a huge infectious smile. My husband went in to his office and stayed talking with John for two hours while I waited in the front. When my husband emerged he was practically gushing about how wonderful he thought John was. I was like yea yea lets go already. Then came my turn to speak with John. During our foreclosure the police stopped by our home while I was cooking to remove me from the premises. I hurriedly called John. He calmed me down and asked me to hand the phone to the police. I have no idea what he told them but they got out of there quick fast and in a hurry. He then told me every thing was going to be ok and it was. He was such a very sweet guy and right then I knew why my husband was so impressed with him. We are so sorry for your loss. He will be truly missed!

To all of John's family, John was my attorney. He was brilliantly representing me against a strong foe. You can be proud of your husband, father, son, and brother. He was strident in doing good. His final motion on my behalf likely won for many in the end. Thank you for sharing him with all of us. I am undone by the sorrow your family is suffering. I pray peace upon your hearts, healing into your minds, and hope into your futures. God be with you.

Growing up, my uncle John was my biggest role model. John taught me how to play baseball, ride a bike, fish, and many other things. When we would walk back inside from playing, I would walk in John's footprints in the grass and think to myself, "I want to walk in his foot steps". Anyone who knew John, knows about his incredible sense of humor and the laughter he brought to his family and friends is something I know will live with us forever. I watched John win several baseball championships and with each one, I grew more and more proud to call him my uncle. John and I are only 12 years apart and being his first (and only) niece, he adored me and never failed to make me laugh tirelessly when we were together. John came from a family who loved and adored everything about him and we will forever miss him. John's legacy will live on through the beautiful memories we made with him during his 36 years here with us.
