Our relationship with Johnny goes back many years and a few lifetimes ago. We knew Johnny from his days in Grand Junction. He was our family, our friend and my hero. As a young boy, Johnny introduced me to race cars, drilling equipment and all things mechanical. He was tough, but, quietly kind and generous.
Johnny came from a humble, but unashamed background. I'm not sure I ever met anyone that worked harder. Man, the guy was ALWAYS working, even when he wasn't.
I always looked forward to spending time with him. It was always an adventure and a way to be with "a man's man".
Life goes down some paths that take us away from people and places that we never thought possible. Such was the case with us and Johnny. However, we always admired him. As time went on and he popped up in our lives, even though on the edge, we grew to admire him even more and understand how much we missed in the path that life took. His courage, compassion and strength was unmatched.
Bringing me to this: we were blessed and honored by Johnny being a part of our lives. Maybe not how we would have scripted it, but thankful none the less. Maybe not as expressively appreciative as we should have been, but, always in our thoughts and discussions.
We will not forget Johnny or the ones he left behind.
RIP buddy. You're already missed.

Helen,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. I would just like to say that you and Johnny have always been such wonderful and kind neighbors. He was a very special person and he will be terrily missed. It is always so hard to lose a loved one, but at least we know that he is home with our kind and loving God! We were all blessed that knew Johnny Voss.
Please let me know if there is anything that I can do. Bill Barbee
