Jon Meadows Obituary

Jon Robert "Bob" Meadows, age 78, of The Woodlands, Texas passed away unexpectedly on September 2, 2021 after battling Dementia/Alzheimer's Disease. Bob was born in Los Ojos (Parkview), New Mexico. He grew up as the youngest of four children with his parents Mary Ellen and Troy Meadows, Sr.

Bob was the short stop of his baseball team and a member of the wrestling team at Sandia High School. Bob studied marketing and graduated from the University of New Mexico. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

Following graduation, Bob served in the United States Army in the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Thailand. Afterwards, he went to work in the marketing department at Humble Oil, later known as Exxon, in El Paso, Texas, Las Cruces, New Mexico, and in Houston, Texas.

Bob left his work at Exxon to become a successful agent for State Farm until retirement after 34 years. He was a wonderful mentor to all he knew. He was renowned for his positive attitude and willingness to help others. He never met a stranger in an airport, store or restaurant. Bob always looked for the good in people and did not like conflict or drama. He was a living example of a good, kind person. He had a work ethic second to none, and believed hard work could be fun.

It was in retirement, that Bob found a new role to treasure, that of ever-present grandfather. He adored spending time with his six grandchildren and they loved their "Pop". Whether it was hunting for ladybugs or Easter Eggs, attending football, lacrosse, and baseball combines or games, Bob was in his element cheering them on. He would climb through jungle gyms, up ladders, and pull around red wagons just to see his grandchildren smile.

Bob and his wife, Debbie, traveled throughout the country to see family which was their idea of vacation. He adored seeing his brothers, sister, in-laws, out-laws and their spouses as often as possible. He thoroughly enjoyed seeing nieces, nephews and attending family reunions.

Bob was a member of The Woodlands First Baptist Church and a member of the "Lunch Bunch" of State Farm agents. Their group met monthly to celebrate successes, vent frustrations, and find ways to help their customers.

He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah (Stephan) Meadows, and their shared children: Jon Michael Meadows, Dawn Kotalik (husband John), Robert Stephan, and Dr. Bryan Hall Meadows (wife Lorena), grandsons Rafe Kotalik, Connor Stephan, Reed Kotalik, PFC Jarrett Kotalik and Petty Officer Third Class Noah Kotalik. Grace Kotalik is their only granddaughter.

He is also survived by brothers Troy Meadows Jr. (wife Lora, previously decreased), Jim Meadows (wife Renee), sister Harriet Jenks (husband Morton), and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ellen, and father, Troy Meadows, Sr. Family and friends will be welcomed at visitation on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. with burial service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home.
