"The boy walks with his best friend
Through the fields of early May
They walk awhile in silence
One close, one far away
But he'd be climbing on that bus
Just him and his guitar
To blaze across the heavens
Like a brilliant shooting star" -Rush, Middletown Dreams

josh sent me that in an email just after i got outta the hospital. he sent it to me about how no matter how close him and i were, if i wanted to move far away and start everything new, he would understand and still be there for me. obviously i stuck around and i am so glad i did. he was there for me so many times i dont even need to begin. its almost been a month now and i still am having trouble believing it.

i am seeing him almost nightly now in my dreams and i couldn't ask for more. we are hanging out all throughout town every night.

i am going to be thinking about him every day and i truly mean that.

Tina and Rick, thank you SO MUCH for helping change my life in the ways that Josh did. i wish i could dedicate the rest of my life to making sure you guys are okay and i want to shield you from anything close to this happening again. i cant stress that enough. all i can do though is just, again, let you know how grateful i am to have even met your amazingly intelligent boy, let alone be as close to him i was.

with love,
Ben

Tina and family,

I didn't hear the news about Josh until just after the services. My heartfelt condolences go out to you at this time. It was my pleasure to coach Josh as a youngster in Beach Park Baseball, back in either '95 or '96. I remember how hard he worked along with the coaching staff on his hitting. I have often spoken to others through the years how seeing Josh get a big hit at the end of the season was to me what coaching is all about. That effort remains to this day a cornerstone of my whole philosophy of coaching. I will never forget the standing ovation the parents of the whole team gave him when he got that hit - a testament to his perseverance. I've coached baseball for 15 years since, but that memory of that terrific young man has stayed with me and always will. My 2nd son Carter, who knew Josh in ZB high school, has told me what a really nice guy Josh grew up into. I wish you all so much strength and comfort at this time. A light has gone out in your lives now, but it is my sincere hope that his memory will shine in you all always.

Best Regards and Deepest Sympathy,
"Coach" Brian Harris & Family

Josh was special to all of us. We considered him Family. He had such a wonderful smile and a great sense of humor. When he played volleyball, if he miss-hit the ball, he would look over to the coach with a mortified look on his face, and his shoulders would shrug with a sincere "sorry", because he always strived for perfection.

We spend our lives on earth as seeds in the ground; today Josh has become a flower in heaven.

Our hearts and prayers are with you.

To everyone who knew Josh like I did;
Even though this was unexpected and horrible, the only thing we can do is know that he's looking down on us, wanting us to get through this the best we can. He was my big brother, and someone i looked up to dearly. He will be missed greatly by more then just myself. I'll always remember all the good memories we had on our long road trips to amusment parks & wisconsin dells. And most of all, our dumb jokes about radio commercials. I'll always remember the person Josh was, and what a kind good hearted person he was. I love you Josh; gone but never forgotten. Watch down on us & give us guidance in this horrible time. Forever in my heart. =(

I've known Josh for a lot of years and there isn't a single memory of him that isn't a happy one. Bowling with him all throughout our childhood keeps me with very fond memories and times that I now know I will continue to cherish. Josh was a kind and gentle person, never mean or rude. He always had a smile on his face and having been one of his friends for so long is honestly a pleasure and a blessing. And he did the greatest Chewbacca impression :). I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Josh was a very sweet, compassionate individual. He loved everything he did, and everyone he knew. I am deeply saddened that he has left us, but know that he is in a good place, and will be watching down on us all. I treasure the times I had with him at Loyola. I will deeply miss Josh. He lived a couple houses away from me growing up and we have so many great memories, like trying to plant popcorn seeds because we badly wanted to have a popcorn tree. We continued our friendship on to OLH but he left for another middle school but we were happily reunited in High School. I cant remember a time where i wasnt laughing, his bright smile would make my day! My thoughts and prayers are with all his family and friends.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Our sons (Luke, Matt, & Paul) all played in the band with Josh. Luke enjoyed working with him in classes and on projects. Josh had been to our home many times, and was always a fine example of a young genteleman. He will be missed by all those that he touched, and you can be proud and sure that he has a place in Heaven. We will all see him again.

Tina, Rick, Shelly, Tonya and all of Josh's extended family and friends, I can not even say how unfair and tragic this loss is for everyone. You only have to look at what Josh accomplished in his short life to know what a decent, dedicated, caring and intelligent young adult he was. How he lived his life, so respectful and kind to everyone who knew him shows what a sincere and loving young man he was. This world will miss him being in it...

In loving respect,
