Larry WINCHESTER Obituary

WINCHESTER, Larry Scott

Larry Scott Winchester, 60, of Lake Worth, was given peace on July 31, 2014. Everyone who knew Larry loved Larry. He was full of life and adventure. He started surfing in the waters of Lake Worth when he was 3, the ocean was a part of him. He could fix ANYTHING. Larry's best characteristics were his honesty and integrity he would do anything for anyone. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Barbara Chamberlain Winchester and her children Nicole and Shannon, Kyle Giragos who was like a son to him, step-mother Judi, and several nieces and nephews. He will be forever missed in the town of Lake Worth, we love you Larry. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice or The American Cancer Society. A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 3 at Dorsey E. Earl Smith Funeral home from 10:00AM to 12:00PM, with a funeral service at 12:00PM. Burial will take place immediately following services at Lake Worth Memory Gardens.

I am so very sorry to hear of Larry's passing. I thought that he had made it past his battle with throat cancer. Life is full of unexpected turns. I hope he is surfing the waves and his cares are few. Cynthia , Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens. You are missed .

Larry, Larry, Larry.....geeeez dude. You are one of those guys that other guys look up to. I am one as well, and not just because you are taller. We go waaay back and my opinion has never changed. We both shared good times and some pretty rough ones as well. Your honesty and integrity is an inspiration. Your sense of humor and compassion for others as well. Though we didn't hang out much the past many years, when we did, it was like we never missed a beat. Barb i hope you and the girls know how much of a huge difference you made in Larry's life, and i'm not just talking about through his battle. I'll never forget the time he told me about the two of you and he was like a little kid with a new crush. I will miss Larry, but not forever. Only until the next time and i know there is a next time. Until then i will cherish the memories and now i can tell some of the stories and not be worried that you will tell mine as well. God speed brother.

I'm sorry we fell out of touch over the years Larry. That was my fault, not yours. I still think of you often and all the crazy stunts we used to pull. From dirt bikes to road trips and everything else, you lived your life full on at 125 percent. Wherever you are, I hope you are surfing the biggest wave, doing kamakazi shooters and raising hell like you always did. See you around bro.

Great memories! Still have the fondest one of me (a sophomore) being the last dodge ball player on the opposing team and Larry staring me down. He was a giant to me!!! Muscle-man threw the ball and I caught it and my team won! He then chased me around the basketball court while coach Trent yelled at him not to kill me. R.I.P! Prayers to you and yours!
