Lina Kay (Hornung) Tracy, 80, Squaw Lake, MN, formerly Lincoln, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2024, in St. Paul, MN.
She was born February 17, 1944, to Richard Taylor and Dorothy Mae (Hatcher) Hornung. She grew up mostly in Cheney, graduating from Walton High School in 1962. She married William Edward Tracy January 11, 1964. To this union was born seven children. She was a stay-at-home mom and ran an in-home daycare for many years. She was very active with the Camp Fire Girls organization as a leader, a Summer Day Camp Director and Day Camp Leader for many years, 4-H Leader, Cub Scout Leader, and Girl Scout Leader. They moved in 1984 to Squaw Lake, MN, to live out their dream of owning and operating a fishing and hunting resort, Fisherman's Village Resort.
There she was active at St. Catherine's Church, was an EMT with the Squaw Lake Ambulance and was on the Good Hope Township Board. She worked as the head cook at Squaw Lake Schools and was a member of Ducks Unlimited and Geese Unlimited. She enjoyed genealogy, gardening, baking, sewing, quilting, and crafting. She was known for her jams, jellies and breads and for her cookies and candies at Christmas. And she thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren from being with them to hearing about what they had been doing.
Survivors: children and spouses: Shawn Colleen and Patrick Kean, Kathleen Elizabeth and Timothy Campbell, Patricia Ann and Timothy Altier, Margaret Jean, William Bryan, Joseph Benjamin, and Sarah Jayne and Christian McQuade; grandchildren: Colleen (Steven), Andrew (Rachael), Kathleen (James), Matthew, Linnea (Isaac), Kyla, Kenna, Bridget, Finnegan and Oceana; and seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Deloris Hornung; brother, Jimmy Hornung; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; sister, Anita; and brother, George aka PeeWee.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 7105 Cass Ave, Denton, NE, 68339. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home at 6800 South 14 Street, Lincoln, NE.
Memorials are in the care of the family for future designation.
