Marietta Voglis Obituary

Marietta Voglis, longtime Houston resident, passed away on Monday, the 4th of December 2023, at the age of 91. She was born on the 7th of May 1932, in New York City, New York to the late Dorothy Thompson and Michael Voglis. Marietta was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral and served as a patron of the Houston Grand Opera, which held a special place in her heart.
A more specific and detailed obituary is to be published at a later date.
Friends are cordially invited to gather with the family during a visitation at twelve o'clock noon on Tuesday, the 12th of December 2023, at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 3511 Yoakum Boulevard in Houston, where the funeral service is to commence at half-past twelve o'clock noon with the Cathedral Clergy officiating. Immediately following, all are invited to join the family during a makaria to be held at a venue to be announced during the service.
At a later date, the family will gather for a private interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Maspeth, New York.

we were Citibank colleagues in nyc in the 1970s, then lost touch. about 1991, we reconnected when I was standing on the subway and looked down: marietta was sitting in front of me! and, amazingly, both of us had moved to the upper east side and our buildings were back-to-back!
