Marlene Suddreth Obituary

Marlene Livingston Suddreth MOUNT HOLLY - Marlene Livingston Suddreth, 76, of 124 Low Meadow Drive, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2015, at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born in Wilkes County, daughter of the late James Ray Livingston and Beatrice Calloway Livingston Minton Helms. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Grant Suddreth and two brothers Paul Livingston and William Minton. Along with her husband Harry, she was the former owner and operator of Low Meadow Greenhouses Incorporated. She was a member of Westview Presbyterian Church where she was the current church treasurer and served as church youth leader and Sunday School teacher. She was also a Girl Scout Troop Leader. She was a charter member of Mount Holly Eastern Star Chapter 345 and was the current Worthy Matron. She was a Past Grand Officer of the North Carolina Order of the Eastern Star. She was the 2014 Mount Holly Woman of the Year. The Suddreth family were the North Carolina Farm Family of the Year in 1975. She is survived by her husband of 57 years Harry Wilson Suddreth; one son Lee Suddreth and wife Laura of Mount Holly; three daughters Karen Suddreth Leonard and husband Rick of Spartanburg, SC, Kim Suddreth of Mount Holly and Cindy Suddreth Williams and husband Scott of Mount Holly; three grandchildren Garrett Tyler and wife Caitlyn of Cramerton, Sarah Tyler of Mount Holly and Jackson Tyler of Mount Holly; one sister Janie Correll and husband Stanley of Lenoir; three brothers James Livingston and wife Rachel, Jack Minton and wife Suzie, Charles Minton and wife Loraine all of Lenoir. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Suddreth will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Stanley with Reverend David Barton and Reverend Bill Cain officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm Saturday evening at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly. The family would like to offer special thanks to Hospice of Gaston County and especially to Paula Robb for their loving care. Memorials may be made to Westview Presbyterian Church, 1020 West Catawba Avenue, Mount Holly, NC 28120 or to Hospice of Gaston County, PO Box 3984, Gastonia NC 28054.
