Mary Highnote Obituary

Mary Lu Highnote
May 26, 1924 - June 16, 2023
Fort Worth, Texas - Mary Lu Highnote (Sparkman) was born May 24, 1924 and joined Leonard Highnote, her husband and Deb O'Hara, her daughter, in heaven April 16, 2023.
Mary Lu lived her life to the fullest: Before I get into the stories, Mary Lu, you bled PURPLE.
When the Frog Club met over at the Old South pancake house you were there. When the Frog Club moved to TCU, you were out front for every meeting-signing people in. When the annual Frog Club Golf Tournament you were the first there to set up your table. When you had your stroke and moved into memory care you insisted on your Frog gear being in your room.
.
Your first airplane ride was in a Barnstorming 2 seater Biplane at the Johnson County Fair..
You always had a pixie twinkle in your eye but the biggest twinkle was talking about your Dad asking you if you wanted to go see the Fort Worth Cats game. You fell in love with baseball that you carried with you for your entire life.
After High school you moved up to Fort Worth and worked at the Civil Aviation Boards (now the FAA) in Fort Worth. I saw the pictures of you walking in downtown with your white gloves on and dressed to impress. You like to meet up with friends to go to the Casino out on Lake Worth to dance and have a drink.
You were an avid tennis player and one after you saw this young man down on one of the courts and I guess you were interested because you walked right up to introduce yourself. Leonard Highnote had returned from the war, going to TCU you started seeing more of another and the rest is history.
On Friday February 13, 1953 you went into labor but you said that your daughter was not going to be born on Friday the 13th and you made sure she was born after midnight on the 14th.
You were not one to sit still, for several years you were a chaperone for the Miss Texas Pageant and you always said the girls had a good time but the chaperones had a great time.
You had your "Projects" but the Flocking of the Christmas tree was the "I Love Lucy" moment.
You read in Parade magazine how to use the exhaust on your vacuum cleaner to blow the flock on to the tree. You set up in the garage, turned on the vacuum and flock went everywhere. The rumor was when you sold that house there was still flock in the garage
I Promised Deb I would take care of you but through your love and actions you took care of me.
As I write this very unusual Obit, I am wiping away tears but I know you are where you want to be with Leonard and Deb.
