Melba Baldwin Obituary

MELBA WHITAKER BALDWIN passed away Sunday, June 15, 2008 at her home in Memphis. She was born in Camden, AR to Jessie Ames Whitaker and James Chamberlain Whitaker. She was a 1943 graduate of Central High School in Memphis and later worked at Kimberly-Clark Corp. and Yorkshire Cleaners. Mrs. Baldwin was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church and the Esther Sunday School Class. She was the widow of Mayo L. Thomas and Thomas Edward Baldwin and is survived by her children, Eddie Jean Childress of Memphis, Gae Dickinson of Olive Branch, MS, Marsha Thomas Haley of Cordova, TN and James Michael Thomas of Little Rock, AR. She also leaves her brother, James Whitaker of Roswell, GA, 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 17 at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel, with burial in Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.
