I had the privilege of working along side Mel for many years when he and Katy relocated to Nova Scotia. We became wonderful friends until his final days. He was always engaged and interested in everything my family was up to. Such a great friend and I will miss him dearly.

Mel Thomas was one of my best friends. He was my college roommate, we often double-dated, he was my Best Man when I married and a life-long friend for over fifty-four years. We taught and coached together at Lincoln High School until he chose to pursue a career in the gaming industry.
Although Mel became a success in his chosen profession, he never changed. He was kind, considerate, a generous host and an appreciative guest. Mel was always willing to lend an ear or bend an ear and never shied away from pitching in to help with a project. Whether he was asked or if he volunteered, Mel was always willing to pick up a paint brush, a saw or hammer. He could tell a joke, take a joke and enjoyed a shot of whiskey and a cigar under the evening stars.
I feel fortunate to have had Mel as a friend. He was a loyal friend, a loving husband to Katie, a loving father to Tara, devoted to his family and extended family. No matter how far he traveled he always kept in touch. Whether we talked frequently or infrequently, our conversations always picked up as if we spoke the previous day.
I will miss you, my friend.

Mel has been a close friend for 45 years; an awesome step-father to my sons and an amazing father to our daughter. Mel will be terribly missed.

Mel will be missed by all who knew him. As his stepson, Mel taught me how to persevere. How not to look at reasons something couldn't be accomplished but how to find solutions to overcoming obstacles.
