Michael D. Finch, 74, of New Albany, Ohio, passed to eternal peace after a long battle with Parkinson's disease and complications from Covid-19. Mike was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and grew up in Barnesville, Ohio. He graduated from Barnesville High School in 1964. He attended The Ohio State University and received his Chartered Property and Casualty (CPCU) designation in 1981. He served four years in the Air Force, stationed in Texas, Illinois, Panama, Germany and Ohio. Following the Air Force, Mike worked for nearly 39 years at Motorists Mutual Insurance Company (now Encova) in the underwriting and loss control areas. He retired in 2009 as Assistant VP of the Personal Lines Underwriting Department. Mike also served on the Ohio Fair Plan Board of Governors for 25 years and the Ohio Auto Plan. Mike's passion for travel began when he was a junior in High School and a member of the People to People Goodwill Program. He traveled to Europe and eventually visited all 50 states and 30 countries. He also loved classic cars and OSU football. Mike is survived by his wife, Christy; stepdaughters, Renee (Joe) Boudreau and Jana (Lucas) Shaffer; grandchildren, Benton, Liv, Kristopher and Addison; cousins, Barb (Larry) Robb, Beverly (Gene) Hughes, Bill (Cheryl) Finch, Karen Finch; nephew Kevin (Ronda) Johnson and niece Christy Johnson; special family friends, Patty and Roger Frazier. He is preceded in death by his mother Mary Gibson, stepfather Robert Gibson and cousin Butch Finch. Mike will always be remembered for his sense of Humor and his kindness to others. Special thanks to Sunrise of Gahanna and Mt. Carmel Hospice for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Carmel Hospice.
