Nelva Marie Aiken Peyton

Nelva Marie Aiken Peyton, 95, passed peacefully to her long-awaited reward on Thanksgiving Day surrounded by her family and the special caregivers from Above & Beyond Assisted Living personal care home in Conroe, Texas. She was born January 7, 1919 to Harold and Ellie Mitchell Aiken in Sinton, Texas. She was the oldest of eight children of this wonderful Christian family. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Pasadena, Texas and spent her remaining years enjoying her family, friends from work, and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as Little Granny. She was always involved with her church and was a member of the Parkview Church of Christ until she moved to live with her family in Elkins Lake in Huntsville, Texas. Upon moving to Huntsville, she became a faithful member of the Woodland Hills Church of Christ in Conroe, Texas. During her last five years, she resided in assisted living becoming a favorite of all the workers, who fondly referred to her as The Princess. Our special thanks to the Above & Beyond employees, especially house managers Aveena Ryzewski and Ali Russo. Silverado Hospice nurses, volunteer (Terre Sylvester), and aid (Mixi Grande) gave her and her family exceptional comfort during her last months. Nelva was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Don Peyton. She is survived by daughters Margaret Starr and husband Harrold, and Linda Barnett and husband Don. She is also survived by grandchildren, Steven Starr, Gina Starr Corry, Shannon Nolen Martin, Aimee Nolen Montgomery, Luke Peyton, and Sean Peyton. Little Granny leaves behind adored great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends. Funeral services will be on Sunday, November 30, 2014. Visitation at 2:00 p.m. and funeral following at 3:00 p.m. at Grandview Memorial Park in Pasadena, Texas. Interment will be Monday, December 1st at 10:00 am for family members.
