Octavia Byrd Obituary
She is survived by her husband, James Byrd Jr.; daughters, Kenya Stewart and Aja B. Thibodeaux (Aaron); four grandchildren; brother, Earl Stevenson Jr. (Earline); sisters, Mildred S. Anderson and Constancenella S. Newton; and numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, the Rev. Milton, Jr. and Octavia Stevenson Stewart; biological parents, Earl Sr. and Millie Wheaton Stevenson; paternal grandparents, Emmanuel and Rebecca Stevenson; maternal grandparents, James and Agnes Wheaten; Alfred, George, Kalvin and Lorenzo Stevenson; and sisters, Minerva Nixon and Audrey S. Evans.
No public services will be conducted at this time. She will be interred in the First Baptist Church Cemetery.
Arrangements by Jones Funeral Home of Houma.

Tay,
There are no words that can express how I really feel. My heart is broken and only God can repair it. I really could not believe the report. I have cried daily. Yeah, Yeah I know you would say, Retta Ann don't cry, it will be alright. Well I know that God will wipe all of my tears away in due time. However it is just so hard to try to think about you now being here. I thank you for sixty two years of friendship, which proved to be loving and trustworthy.

Ms. Octavia was a guiding light and an amazing mentor. Her care for the families of our community was a testament to her spirit. Forever beloved and missed, she and her family will be in our prayers.

How do I share a memory of my sister? There's so many . I do feel sympathy for my nieces Kenya and Aja . I've lost other love ones but this one . So I say take your rest my beloved sister. If I continue to try and live right I know one day I'll see you and my other love ones one day.
