Paula Faith Byrum Cartwright, 70, of Hertford, NC passed away Thursday, August 28, 2025 at her residence. She was born November 23, 1954, and was a daughter of the late, Maurice Weldon Byrum and Florence Juanita Morse Byrum. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Rita Kirby.

Surviving are her loving husband of 53 years, Jackie Lean Cartwright; children, Charity Winslow, Angel White, David Cartwright, and a nephew whom she loved as her very own son, Travis Patrick; granddaughters, Tylar Workman, Brice Cartwright, and Alexis Cartwright; brothers, sisters, and other family and friends.

Paula had a tremendous capacity for caring for others, including both people and animals. She loved her granddogs, cats, and the cows next door that she often turned into pasture pets. Paula lived a good life and gave selflessly of her own time and resources in the service of others.

A memorial service celebrating Paula’s life will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm, Sunday prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to one of the following charities The Open Door Food Pantry of Perquimans County; Compassion International; or Alzheimer’s Association.
