Peggy Cloud Obituary
CLOUD, Peggy Joan After prolonged health complications, Peggy Joan Cloud passed away peacefully while surrounded by love ones at home in Georgetown, TX on September 22 at the age of 78. She was a beautiful lady inside and out with a servant's heart who touched the lives of many people. Peggy was born on April 7, 1940 in Miami, FL to Laverl and Betty Rollings. While attending Ball State University, Peggy's beauty caught the eye of Rex Cloud. After a little coaxing from Rex, he became the love of her life and they married in 1961 and the honeymoon lasted 57 years. Peggy graduated in 1963 with a degree in Speech and Hearing Therapy. During this time, Rex began a 30 year career in the US Air Force and the young couple started their adventure traveling around the United States and Europe. Peggy happily fell into the role of being the perfect Air Force wife. Wherever they landed, in addition to being an exceptional mother, Peggy was active in volunteer work and the Officer Wife's Club activities. While stationed at Hahn Air Base in Germany, Peggy was awarded the Clara Barton Honor Award for Meritorious Volunteer Leadership for her work for the American Red Cross. She also had the opportunity to use her degree working in the education field. While living in Layton, UT, Peggy earned a Masters Degree in Human Resources from the University of Utah. When the family returned to the Austin area and the children were mostly grown, she got serious about becoming a career woman. Peggy started Career Design Consultants as a small business and later partnered with three other women to form Austin Career Associates. Peggy was passionate about her work and helped countless people find employment. Shortly after Rex retired from the Air Force, the couple moved to Georgetown. Peggy's professional work transitioned to Southwestern University where she provided students with career counseling, resume writing and job placement. In 2000 Peggy joined Rex in retirement and continued to dedicate her time to worthy causes. She served on the board of directors for the Georgetown Information Volunteer Exchange (G.I.V.E.) and Seeds of Strength. Peggy was a devout Christian and an active member of Georgetown's First United Methodist Church. She organized a women's bible study group named Water and The Word that continues to meet today. Peggy also enjoyed participating in Berry Creek Country Club activities including ladies 9 hole golf, bridge and the book club. Peggy will be remembered for her positive outlook, her generosity and compassionate nature. Peggy is survived by her loving husband, Rex and her three children, Jean Croft , husband Jeff, and two sons Michael and Kyle, Christa Haslip, husband Craig and their 3 children Jeffrey and wife Jenny, Bryan and Jessica, and Bruce, wife Marisa and their two children Zachary and Talia. Peggy is survived by two sister in laws, Agatha Eubank and Brigitte Rollings. Peggy is preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Rollings. Peggy's family would like to express loving appreciation to Amy, Nikki and Marie of Wesleyan Hospice for their exceptional care and support. A Memorial Service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Georgetown on Saturday October 6that 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Georgetown or Seeds of Strength at 116 8thStreet Suite 203 Georgetown, TX 78628.
