Richard Steven Oberg

Richard S. "Randy" Oberg passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, after a short battle with cancer. He is no longer in pain and forever at peace.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn (Glaubitz); dear sister, Susan (Oberg) Gibbons; beloved nephews, Matt (Ashley) Gibbons and Patrick Gibbons; precious great-niece and great-nephews, Keira, Aiden, Liam, and Dylan; cherished stepchildren, Jennifer Hollowell (Kevin Lishamer), Ryan (Cassandra) Hollowell; and treasured grandchildren, Kevin and Zachary Lishamer. He will be missed by many relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Dolores (Mozzi) Oberg; his father, Richard G. Oberg; his sister, Rebecca (Oberg) Fontana; and his nephew, Joe Fontana.

Randy was born on December 5, 1962, in Des Plaines, IL, and graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1981. He had a robust IT career until his retirement in 2023. He loved fishing with his friends and his grandchildren, as well as riding his e-bike in his spare time. He lived in Elk Grove Village for most of his life and enjoyed his residence at Village on the Lake. Randy had fierce, unwavering loyalty to those he loved and took a passionate stand for what he believed in. He was truly a pure soul.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 19, 2025, from 12PM - 3 PM at Real Time Sports, 1120 W. Devon Ave., Elk Grove Village, IL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude’s or American Cancer Society.
