Robert Marden Dunlap

Bob was born in Houston, TX, the second son of James Macaulay and Genevieve Leaver Dunlap. The family settled in Glendale, California where Bob began a lifelong love of tennis and where he became an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Glendale High '48, where he played football, basketball and tennis. He graduated from Occidental College in January 1952, where he joined Kappa Sigma Fraternity and was on the tennis team. A member of the U. S. Naval Reserve, Bob graduated from OCS, Newport, RI in March 1953. Bob served aboard aircraft carriers Boxer and Wasp during Korea with Air Task Group-I, VF-194 as aviation maintenance officer. Following 4-years active duty Bob remained in the Reserves for the next 20 years and retired as a commander.

Bob pursued a Masters in Accounting at San Fernando Valley State College. A CPA, he established an office in Ventura, CA. During his career Bob served on various boards and finance committees, was treasurer of the Board of Trustees at First United Methodist Church, Salem, and treasurer of ATG-I reunions for many years. He spent some fifty years playing in tennis tournaments. Bob sang in several chorales in California and Oregon and always enjoyed singing in the church choir.

In 1995 Bob retired from Dunlap, Blye & Harriger Accountancy Corp. He and his wife Carol moved to their farm east of Salem. He is survived by his wife, Carol, his four daughters and a son: Diane Ellison and Peggy Najera (Michael), Ventura, CA; Dr. Janet Dunlap, Cardiff, CA; Anita Wellington, Folsom, CA; Darren Wellington, Salem. Grandchildren: Leslie & Carly Ellison, Jason & Nicole Najera, Evan and Alisa Morrison. Brother, James M. (Mickey) Dunlap, Balboa Island, CA.

A Memorial Service will be held at First United Methodist Church, Salem November 18 at 2:00 p.m. Assisting the family is Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
