Robert Hall Obituary

Robert Earl Hall of Deer Park, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 30, 2014. He was born at the Fire Station in Crockett, Texas, on July 31, 1932 to the late Jewell and Odell Hall. He graduated from Pasadena High School in 1950 and served two years in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Albany. Robert married the love of his life, Diane Walker, in 1954, and earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Houston in 1959. He worked for over 50 years operating the family business that included his father and son in Pasadena: Hall Maytag Home Appliance Center. The assumption that the Maytag Man was a lonely one was not true of Robert. He loved his customers, and did not feel loneliness as a result of their loyalty. Robert loved people and always had a kind word and smile for everyone he met. He was the man behind the scenes, serving his family, friends, church and community. Some of the organizations he served included the Junior Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, and First Presbyterian Church of Pasadena. The Pasadena Interfaith Manor was a place he loved and served for 24 years and Pasadena Community Service for 8 years. He is survived by his wife Diane; daughter Kathy and husband George Ericksen; son Mark and his wife Alison Hall; Grandchildren: Stephany and husband Robert Harnden; Jacob Ericksen; Emily and husband Fabian Ramirez; Nathan and wife Priscilla Hall; and Brian Hall; Great grandchildren: Kai Gabriel Ramirez and Lilah Nicole Hall; his "adopted" family from Iran- Reza, Monireh, Andrew, Yashar and Matt Issazadeh and many more family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Pasadena in memory of Robert. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 3, 2014, at First Presbyterian Church of Pasadena.

My children and I still remember Mr Hall and his wonderful bride Diane fondly as the BEST neighbors anyone could ever dream of. We speak of them often and wonder how Mrs Hall is doing all of the time. Wish we wouldn´t have had to move all those years ago and lost touch. He was such a GREAT,loving, thoughtful, and Godly man.

Mrs Hall, the girls and I have talked about you and Mr Hall frequently since we moved. We just found out about his passing recently. The girls were so fond of him and remember ya'll as the greatest and kindest neighbors. Lexi still remembers the cake you made for her for her birthday with the doll in it and still has it to this day. I wish we would have known so that we could pay our respects in person.

Miss Diane, Only today did I hear of dear Mr Hall's passing. They don't build them like they used to and service from Alexander Maytag told me this morning. They also don't make men like your Robert much anymore, Ive been lucky and got me one. I remember coming into your shop monthly with my mother Caroyn Leach to pay our bill as we lived paycheck to paycheck and looking over the old machines you displayed as a child. I too followed in what my mother said was the best product to buy and bought them from you because I had no doubt that you were the best of people :) I continued until you couldn't service me in my area :) Carolyn and Norman Leach , my parents have passed as well but I wanted you to know you and yours are remembered for your acts of Love for these will be and are remembered for generations and most assuredly to my last day for the wonderful memories of your Robert, yourself and your boy. God Bless and keep you Always,,,,Dil Kirkpatrick

Diane, So sorry to hear about Robert. I know your family will miss him greatly. The Maytag family also lost a great man with his passing. He was always fun to visit with and was always a big help to me when I needed it. I think about all the wonderful trips we all made with the Blue Flame Council. My mother spoke often about the trip to Mexico that you guys took with the council. I'm so sorry to hear of Mr. Hall's passing - and sorry that I did not know in time to attend services and pay my respects personally. I have known the Hall family my entire life. Mr. Hall was a wonderful, big-hearted man and I always enjoyed going to see him and his father (and often other family members) at the store. My brothers & I spent many happy hours with the Halls - and playing in castles, forts and rocket ships made from appliance boxes. How lucky for all of you to have had him for as long as you did. I send my prayers and hugs on behalf of all of my family. May God give you all Peace. With all my love - Cheryl

Growing up just next door (first in Pasadena and then in Deer Park), I have such great memories of my Uncle Robert. I was over at their house constantly as a kid and he always made time and had a kind word to help me along in whatever I was up to, no matter how busy he was. I really struggle to remember a single time when he ever lost his temper or was cross with us kids (an amazing feat)! We had a shared love of motorcycles and cars and had many great conversations over the years. He taught me how to take care of and work on things mechanical and in turn gave me a skill which has served me well throughout my life. He was selfless in so many things he did, he loved his family and was strong in his faith. He set a good example for us all. I will dearly miss him, but know he is in Gods good care.

Diane, words do not come easily as I struggle to put them down. Robert was one of those people in my life that I can say was the example of what our faith should look like. I loved him dearly. Many prayers for you, Kathy, Mark and the rest of your family.

Such a delightful man. He enjoyed teaching us about the vegetables in Roy's church garden, and sharing his extra flashlights! I will always smile when I remember him bringing a wedding photo of himself and his much loved wife to church on their wedding anniversary.
