Robert Morris Obituary

Robert Dale Morris
October 4, 1936 - May 12, 2022
Robert Dale Morris of Missouri City, TX passed away on May 12, 2022. Born on October 4, 1936 in Raywick, KY to Edith House and Frank Edgar Morris. Dale grew up in Hodgenville, KY where he spent his formative years and subsequently attended the University of Kentucky where he studied Civil Engineering and ran track. While working his first job in the pipeline construction industry, his path led him to Marienville, PA where he met Elizabeth Ann Gregory (Libby), who became his wife of 62 years on October 26, 1959. He then served his country proudly as a Private in the United States Army until 1962 where he attended finance school at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, IA. Dale then embarked on a successful career in the pipeline construction industry. This path led him to being part of a team that built pipelines on four different continents. From Thailand, Nigeria, Ecuador, Iran and the North Slope of Alaska, Dale was instrumental in building energy infrastructure that helped power the world's energy needs. Dale spent the first portion of his career (approximately 20 years) with Houston Contracting Company. In the summer of 1978 Dale joined Gregory & Cook Inc. where he retired as President after 21 years of service. Not being one to sit idle, Dale then formed RDM Consultants where he served as a consultant to the pipeline construction industry until just prior to his passing. During his career, Dale served a term as President of the American Pipeline Contractors Association.
An avid rancher, Dale served a term as the President of the American Braler Cattle Association. While in the cattle business Dale participated in leading the charge for the "Lite Beef" movement. From his ranch in Brenham, TX, his operation produced the two-time International Grand Champion Braler bull "WVF All American, OCHO 100" which was shown at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. On December 24, 1973, Dale, a revered son of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, was appointed a "Kentucky Colonel" by then setting Governor Julian M. Carroll, for his ambassadorship to the State. He held this honor with distinction never forgetting his "Ole Kentucky Home". Dale was an avid outdoorsman and could be found most weekends at his hunting ranch in Jonesboro, TX, preparing for or participating in the current hunting season. His loyal canine companion Sadie was always by his side. Dale is survived by his wife of 62 years, Libby Morris of Missouri City, TX; son Greg Morris and wife Cindy of Dallas, TX; son Mike Morris and wife Kristi of Midlothian, TX; daughter Mary Ann Morris Schott and husband Stephen of Fair Oaks Ranch, TX; and daughter Suzanne Morris Stallings of Missouri City, TX. His grandchildren include Regan Morris Seliger and husband Doug of Kyle TX; Hunter Morris of San Marcos, TX; Samantha Schott Gerhart and husband Jason of San Antonio, TX; Colin Morris of College Station, TX; Evan Morris of Midlothian, TX; Bradley Schott of Fair Oaks Ranch, TX; Patrick Stallings of Austin, TX; Paul Stallings of Austin, TX; and Blake Morris of Dallas, TX. His great-grandchildren Emie Seliger and Jamison Seliger of Kyle, TX. Dale is also survived by his sister June Bale and husband Larry of Louisville, KY, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
