ROBERTA SMITH Obituary

DR. ROBERTA MARY SMITH, 74, of Indianapolis, Ind., passed away Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022. Roberta was born on Oct. 22, 1947 in Fort Wayne, Ind., to the late Helen C. (Lauer) and Francis J. Smith. Her father died seven months before Roberta was born. She grew up in Fort Wayne with her brother, Dave; sisters, Joan, Toni, and Suzanne. After graduation from St. Francis College in Fort Wayne, Roberta taught chemistry at Huntington Catholic High School where she spent many humorous hours with the students, all of whom she loved. Always bright and ambitious, Roberta moved to Atlanta to get a Masters Degree in Chemistry and then continued her teaching and love of students at Georgia Tech. Two to three years later Roberta spent four years at the Medical College of Georgia, then returned to Indianapolis for her residency in Pediatrics. Over the years she practiced in Speedway, Carmel, North Carolina, and Greenwood, Sunshine Pediatrics. Roberta loved her patients as she did her students, and received much love in her return. After retirement her interests became Bridge, gardening, spending time with her good friend and companion Denny White, her family, and old school friends. Travel was a big part of her plan, including cruises and countries - Egypt, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Greece, Spain, Portugal, South Africa, Thailand, Alaska and more. She is survived by her sisters, Toni Kuzeff and Suzanne Todd; friend, Denny White; nieces, Katy Todd, Kim Sands, Kathy Gushwa, Kay Kuzeff-Harris, Serena Smith; nephews, Ken Kuzeff, Vince Todd Jr., Joseph Todd; and 10 great-nieces and four great-nephews. I'm so sorry for your loss Sue Todd....I'm just shocked to read about Roberta. It wasn't that long ago when we played bridge with you and Roberta at the Bridge Center. I will be keeping you and your family in my prayers
