Ronald Cherry Obituary
Ronald Allen Cherry, 83, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020, in Jacksonville, Florida. Ronnie was born in Jacksonville, FL, on October 2, 1937.
Although Ronnie was a lifelong Gator fan, he graduated from the University of Georgia. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and in the Reserves. Ronnie was a longstanding Jacksonville Jewish Center member. He spent over 40 years in the Garment Industry allowing him to live in New York, his favorite city, for 15 years. He traveled the world for business and for pleasure with his loving wife, Merle.
Ronnie was predeceased by his father, Sam Cherry, his mother, Gussie Cherry, and his dear brother, Charles Cherry. He is survived by his wife, Merle Cherry, son, Lance (Michelle) Cherry, daughter, Lin (Amy Turkel) Cherry, sister, Maxine (Don) Nohrr, sister-in-law, Carole Cherry, step-sons, Marc (Jenny) Selevan, Andrew (Rebekah) Selevan, and grandchildren, Sloan, Hailey, Dylan, Ethan, Jacob, Bradley, and Alexandra.
The funeral service will be held graveside at Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Boulevard, on Thursday, December 10th at 1:30. Because of the ongoing COVID-19 health concerns, we encourage members of the community to consider limiting their exposure to crowds by joining the service virtually. Those attending in person are asked to adhere to CDC guidelines regarding social distancing and mask-wearing.

My Condolences to Merle and there family. I have known Ronnie and Merle for twenty years. I was Fortunate to drive them to the airport many times and first of the year to Tampa to visit family . My best memory was when they asked me to take them to a Gator Basketball Game and asked me to attend the game with them, I’m also a life Gator Fan. Needless to say we talked about the gators each time we met. I’ve been around a lot of people but never have I seen two people in love as much as them. R.I.P. my friend.

Ronnie was such a pleasure to see in the morning at the Epping Forest fitness center for years and years. He always had a smile on his face. He will be sorely missed.

I met Mr. Cherry while working at National Merchandise Company. He was one of the kindest man - always with a wonderful smile.
