Scott Sumner Obituary

Scott Morgan Sumner
August 18, 2021
Columbia, South Carolina - Scott Morgan Sumner, 58, passed away after a brief illness. He was born in Bronxville, NY to John Howard Sumner and Mary Alice Lorick Sumner and was a longtime resident of Columbia, SC. "Scotte" as many people referred to him was married to his love, Lisa and they have two beautiful sons, Jack and Dean who were the light of Scotte's life.
Scotte was one of a kind, a true entertainer to everyone he came in contact. He instantly connected with all people and was known for his genuine kindness and unparalleled sense of humor, definitely the life of every party. Scotte had a voracious love of music and could name an artist, a song and most of the lyrics at the drop of a hat. He especially liked New Wave and Punk and was often sporting one of his favorite t-shirts with the Ramones proudly displayed!
Scotte and Lisa enjoyed the simple things in life but especially enjoyed raising their children together, often laughing every day at their rambunctious brotherly ways. Scotte had a passion for his children and loved coaching them in their respective sports and was so proud and often said, "We are so lucky to have been gifted with two sons!"
After the loss of his Mother this year Scotte became very close to his sister, Corey talking and visiting her frequently to sit in a beautiful memorial garden Corey and her husband Bernie created in memory of their dear Mother.
Scotte will be missed by so many people who loved him deeply and there will be a void in our lives and our hearts at his passing. We draw comfort in knowing Scotte is with his Father, Mother and Sister and is at peace.
Scotte is preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Alice Sumner and his sister Sandra McElveen. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Lisa; son, John Sterling "Jack"; son, Dean "Dino"; his sister Corey (Bernie); his nephews, Patrick and Ian and his niece Cassidy (Gage) and their beautiful son Everett, who Scotte adored, along with his dear Aunts Betty Joe and Susan and many cousins and loved ones.
