Stanley Kazen Obituary

June 17, 1923-June 11, 2016 Stanley William Kazen passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 11, 2016, in Arlington, Washington. He was born on June 17, 1923, in Arlington to Herman and Cora Kazen. He attended school in Arlington, Marysville, and Snohomish, Wash. Stanley served in WWII after enlisting in the US Navy in 1943. His assignment was with the USS Ammen where he took part in invasions of the Aleutians, South Pacific, Western Pacific and Okinawa, Japan. The Ammen received eight Battle Stars, including the Victory Medal for the Philippine Campaign-Asiatic Pacific America Theatre, and the Navy Unit Commendation for the Okinawa Campaign. He also served on the Whitehurst and returned home on the Hornet. When he returned from the service he married Lorraine Meyer and they raised three children in Arlington. He worked for Arlington Sand and Gravel before starting the partnership of Stanwood Redi-Mix in Silvana, Wash. He then went on to start Gateway Precast in Sedro Woolley, Wash. and returned to Arlington to start Smokey Point Concrete, retiring in 1981 at the age of 58. In retirement he and his wife, Vivian spent many years traveling abroad and in the United States either on their Harley, Gold Wing, or motorhome. They became snowbirds and enjoyed several years in Apache Junction, Arizona. Stanley was preceded in death by his mother and father, Cora and Herman Kazen; brothers, Bud and Vern Kazen; and wife, Vivian Kazen, and step children, Terry and Warren Roberson. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Brad) Peek of Marysville: his sons, Rick (Anne) Kazen and Ron (Denise) Kazen, of Arlington; his grandchildren, Jason, Kris, Amy, and Kelsy; and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service for Stanley will be held at the Medallion Hotel in the Baker Room, 16710 Smokey Point Blvd, Arlington, WA on July 9, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Lung Association or a charity of your choice.

Kathy, Rick, Ron & Families,
Please accept my deepest sympathy on the loss of your wonderful father. He was a hard worker, a very nice man. You are all in my thoughts & prayers and I send many blessings your way. Kathy, I would have taken care of this privately, but when we found each other again, my cell phone was taken therefore all my information was lost. Call me when your feeling better sweetly. Again, I'm so sorry.

although I have not seen him in many years,I remember him as a fun uncle. He had that swing dancing in the 40s down to a science. I wish him clear sailing from here on. My condolences to his family.
